Communication – Integral to Team Success

Communication is the key to a strong and successful work environment. Sometimes your group may be struggling in a project where the front end doesn’t quite get what the back end is trying to accomplish. This is where team building can play in intricate role in the success of your organization. Team members have an opportunity to work in an environment that will bring out the strengths of the individuals and give way to a deeper understanding. By learning to ask the right questions, and listening for the answers that will provide insights, team members work more efficiently and succinctly.

Delta Synergy, Zest’s sister company, provides a setting where your organization can learn to build these communication skills, specifically designed to focus on your group’s objectives. It is done through a series of team building activities that will strengthen communication. Whether it is building a bridge, castle or tent, retrieving an object or traveling though a maze, when individuals are challenged to communicate more efficiently, the learning occurs immediately. Successful communication skills are the keys to achieving the individual and team goals.

One of our more popular Team Building Activities involves completing a Journey. This involves the group being broken down into teams. Each team then chooses a particular type of activity to perform in order to retrieve materials that are necessary for the group to complete a final challenge. Some members may be hiking up to a location and then repelling down. Others may be biking or canoeing. At each destination, a key to a lock box will be discovered and hopefully, one of the keys will in turn unlock a treasure in which the whole team can enjoy. Throughout the day, communication becomes an integral part of the activities.

We custom build programs that specifically focus on what your organization wants, meeting with either the project managers or the human resources staff. We look at the needs of your group and how we can meet those needs though interactive activities. After those activities, we then come back together to reflect on the days’ events. Through a series of debriefs, we capitalize on the learning that has taken place and discuss its work place application with the individuals. A formal learning document is created and that along with a photographic history of the day is part of your groups take away.

Imagine taking that back into the work place!
